What We Do

A leading Canadian conservative ‘do-tank,’ The Manning Centre offers programs to prepare Canadians with the ideas, skills and networks required to inform and impact their governments, public policy and their communities.

Ideas in practice

Political parties, including the Conservative party, have mainly become marketing mechanisms for fighting elections; they do very little in terms of idea development.

From Aboriginal affairs to urban development, the Manning Centre brings together top thinkers and policy-makers to help enlarge the ideas inventory for current and future political leaders.

To date, the Manning Centre has organized projects focusing on the following policy areas:

  • Market-based solutions for environmental conservation
  • Science, Technology, and Innovation

Manning Schools

The Manning Schools are designed to provide essential education and training to prepare Canada’s future political leaders.
The Manning Schools include:

  • Manning School of Practical Politics
  • Manning School of Political Management
  • Navigating the Faith-Political Interface

Networks

The Manning Centre serves as a central hub to strengthen networking within the conservative movement, and communications with the Canadian public. To facilitate this, the Manning Centre has created the following projects:

  • An annual networking conference held in Ottawa, which gathers conservative thinkers and activists from across the country and around the world.
  • Publications: Through a booklet series, website, editorials and magazine, the Manning Centre works to make sure conservative ideas are well articulated and implemented in practical arena.
