Making Markets Work
Evidence shows that consumers receive the best goods and services at competitive prices under market systems rather than under government-run monopolies.
In Alberta, under a market-based system for electricity, consumers have benefitted from billions of dollars in private sector investments, competitive market-based prices, and zero provincial utility debt. In 2013, the Manning Centre launched the Making Markets Work for Consumers project to bring industry, government and consumer stakeholders together to strengthen and enhance Alberta's market-based electricity system.
