In early 2017, the Manning Centre released a previously unreleased document from 1966 that looked at merging Alberta’s Progressive Conservatives and Alberta's Social Credit party. Along with publishing that document today, Preston Manning authored a column describing the 1966 report and what takeaways there might be for conservatives in Alberta today.
Further, Manning Centre Policy Analyst John Whittaker released analysis into the principles included in that 1966 proposal and how the principles have progressed over time throughout various conservative-minded parties' statements of principle and related materials.
