Are you passionate about building the conservative movement or improving public policy?

The Manning Centre’s annual Summer Internship Program is a fantastic opportunity to engage in training, research, and networking activities for students interested in improving their political and research skills.

Every year, we receive applications from students across Canada who want to spend their summers in Calgary as part of a dynamic and experienced team.  Interns also take part in an Alberta Experience program which involves events and trips which showcase Alberta.

Graduates of our internship program have gone on to work for think tanks, advocacy groups, elected officials, universities, and political parties.  Their internship helped  connect with a strong network of leaders, and gave them practical experience which helped them advance their careers.

The Manning Centre’s Summer 2017 internship program is looking for interns with a variety of skillsets and backgrounds, including:

  • Graphic design, video production, photography, and web development

  • Political campaigns, student activism, and political training

  • Public policy research, data collection and analysis, and research reporting

  • Communications, media relations, public speaking, and event planning

More than any specific experience or skillset, the Manning Centre is looking for prospective interns who are passionate about political engagement and public policy research, and about making a meaningful contribution to the Manning Centre’s ongoing work.  Your passion, enthusiasm, and commitment are what we look for most in assessing your application and during your interview.

Manning Centre summer internships are paid, with a monthly stipend of $2,000 per month.  For interns outside of the Calgary area, a travel and accommodation bursary of $1,000 will also be provided.  The internship program runs from Monday May 1, 2017 to Friday August 25, 2017.  Interns are expected to be available for the entirety of this period, although exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis.

To apply for the program, please submit your resume and cover letter to pam.nelson@manningcentre.ca by Monday March 6, 2017.  If you have a particular skillset which you believe would benefit the Manning Centre, please share that as part of your cover letter.

Thanks for your interest in the Manning Centre’s 2017 Summer Internship Program – we look forward to seeing you in Calgary this summer!
